The common beech, whose scientific name is Fagus sylvatica, is one of the most popular and impressive trees of the warm- and continental-climate forests of Europe. It is one of the main characters of autumn, since its leaves turn bright red or orange depending on the type of beech tree.

It reaches heights of 40 metres, grows vertically if it is in a group, or grows wide branches very soon if it is alone.
